I'm stealing this idea from Lizzy's page, the aim is to read one book from each year of the twentieth century. I'm starting as of tomorrow, I wonder how many years this will take...
1999: Hardboiled/Hardluck, Yosimoto
1998: Stardust, Gaiman
1996: Rabbit Proof Fence, Pilkerton
1996: Neverwhere, Gaiman
1992: All the Pretty Horses, McCarthy
1991: The Sandman, Neil Gaiman
1963: The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea, Mishma
1952: East of Eden, Steinbeck
1953: Junky, William Burroughs
1922: Siddartha, Hesse

I didn't start from scratch. I counted those that I remembered enough of to talk about if need be.
I still have 40 or so to go and I'm averaging between 10-15 per year, so it my own challenge will keep me occupied for another 2-3 years.
I added a twist: 100 years, 100 books, 100 authors - just to ensure that I didn't gorge on my favourites! I do wish to be wellish-read at the end of it all!
That sounds like a good way to do it. I'm starting from scratch so it may take a good few years!
If this is an open-ended challenge, sign me up. Judy
